Enrique Mac Iver 341, Santiago
The Basilica de La Merced is a Catholic church at the intersection of the streets Mac Iver and Merced, located in the centre of Santiago. It was declared National Monument in 1977 and its origin dates back to 1735, this being the third construction built by the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy (Mercenaries). Inside we can find the second oldest statue in this country, the Virgin of Mercy, brought by the Priest Antonio Correa. Its architecture is mostly neoclassical but also presents other additions that include a baroque pulpit from the 18th Century, thanks to which it is considered one of the most beautiful edifications in Santiago.
